Tongue-weight calculator
Estimate the hitch load created by a loaded trailer, then compare it with vehicle payload, receiver, ball mount, ball, axle, and tire limits.
Use this only for early planning. Measure the trailer in its loaded, trip-ready condition and follow the trailer and vehicle manufacturers’ requirements.
Use loaded weight—not brochure dry weight
Propane, batteries, water, food, luggage, tools, and dealer-installed options can materially change both total trailer weight and tongue weight. Cargo position matters too.
Measure before towing
A percentage estimate is useful for planning, but the final number should come from an appropriate tongue-weight scale or professional weighing process with the trailer loaded as it will travel.
Put the result into the payload calculator, then run the full combination in the Tow Genius calculator.
